Closed-door talks between Al-Burhan and Al-Sisi in Egypt

 

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi received President of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, in Cairo on Monday, according to a statement from the Egyptian presidency.

 

 

The Egyptian presidential spokesperson said that Al-Sisi and Al-Burhan held a closed-door session, followed by an expanded meeting with the participation of the delegations from both countries. They discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and Egypt’s effective contribution to the reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts in Sudan following the war.

 

He added that the two sides also discussed the continuation of joint projects in several vital areas, such as electrical interconnection, railways, trade, cultural, and scientific exchanges, as well as cooperation in the fields of health, agriculture, industry, mining, and other areas. As this will achieve the desired goal of integration between the two countries and optimally utilize the enormous potential of the two countries and their peoples. He noted that the consultations also addressed “recent field developments in Sudan and the progress achieved by the Sudanese Armed Forces in regaining control of the capital, Khartoum.”

 

 

The two sides agreed on “the necessity to intensify efforts to provide the necessary support and assistance to Sudanese residing in war zones.”

 

 

The Egyptian presidential spokesperson noted that the meeting also witnessed an exchange of views and perspectives on current regional situations, particularly in the Nile Basin and the Horn of Africa. “The two countries’ visions coincided, given the close connection between the national security of both Egypt and Sudan.

 

 

It was agreed to continue coordination and joint action to preserve the water security of both countries, reject unilateral measures in the Blue Nile Basin, and implement international law to achieve the joint benefit of all our brothers in the Nile Basin,” the spokesperson said.
