Chadian Authorities Arrest Sudanese Refugees Over Military Site Photography

Chadian authorities have arrested four young Sudanese refugees in the Adré area of eastern Chad on charges of approaching a military site and attempting to photograph military equipment.

Sources told Darfur24 that the four detainees, residents of the Adré refugee camp, were on their way to the livestock market to purchase supplies when they were stopped after passing near a military site.

The sources indicated that the authorities accused them of photographing a military location after suspecting that they had taken pictures of some damaged military equipment near the market.

This incident comes amid deteriorating security conditions in Sudanese refugee camps in eastern Chad, where refugees face challenging humanitarian and security circumstances, in addition to repeated security violations and attacks.
