Bodies of 3 Sudanese Sisters Recovered in Mediterranean

The Mediterranean witnessed a new tragedy on Sunday, when the bodies of three young Sudanese sisters were found dead after an overcrowded rubber boat sank due to bad weather conditions while attempting to sail to the Italian coast.
The three sisters died while attempting to cross the Mediterranean to Europe. The victims’ ages ranged from 9 to 17.
The German organization Rescue Ship reported that its volunteers were able to find the bodies of the three sisters after carrying out a difficult rescue operation, in which approximately 65 migrants were rescued from an unseaworthy boat that had sunk due to harsh weather conditions.
The rescue operation took place in international waters north of Libya, from Friday night to Saturday morning.
Rescue Ship confirmed that preliminary information indicates that a fourth person is still missing at sea, and efforts are ongoing to determine their fate, given the significant challenges facing search and rescue operations in this highly dangerous maritime area.
