Authorities Remove “Mandela” — One of Khartoum’s Most Famous Informal Settlements

Continuing its efforts to eliminate informal housing, crime hubs, and sources of visual pollution, the Jebel Aulia Locality Police, supported by the Sudanese Armed Forces, Land Protection units, and Police Forces, launched a major security operation targeting the Mandela area — one of the most well-known informal settlements in Khartoum.
The large-scale operation resulted in the demolition of 1,248 makeshift rooms, 938 improvised sanitation units, 1,214 collapsing fences, 816 sheds, and 1,415 primitive informal houses.
