Attending by 700 businessmen, activities of Egyptian-Sudanese Forum launched

The activities of the First Egyptian-Sudanese Businessmen Forum kicked-off today, Saturday, in Cairo, under the patronage of the Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport, Kamil Al-Wazir, with the participation of a number of Egyptian and Sudanese ministers, heads of committees, and members of the House of Representatives and the Senate.

 

According to the forum organizers, 700 Egyptian and Sudanese businessmen are participating in the forum.
Egyptian businessman Naguib Onsi Sawiris welcomed the Sudanese in Egypt, stressing that he considers Sudan his country. He said, in his speech at the inaugural sitting of the forum, that he had investments in Sudan in the field of gold prospecting, adding, “I left Sudan in the late Al-Bashir era with my heart dripping with blood, as there were difficulties in dealing at that time.”

 

Sawiris stressed that Sudan has extraordinary opportunities for investment; pointing, in this regard to the opportunities that Sudan has in the field of tourism that have not yet been exploited. He said, “Sudan has unknown antiquities and pyramids, noting that his group has a project on the Red Sea in Sudan and is waiting for the right conditions to start working on it.” He pointed out that there are great ambitions in Sudan, particularly in the field of gold prospecting and agriculture.

 

For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Elsewedy Electric, Eng. Ahmed Elsewedy, considered that this historic forum, which brings together businessmen from Egypt and Sudan, is the first step towards strengthening economic cooperation between our two ancient countries.

 

Elsewedy said, in his speech at the opening of the forum, “This event represents the beginning of a new phase of economic cooperation between Egypt and Sudan, and is an opportunity to shed light on the deep historical ties that bind us, and the role of businessmen in driving the velocity of joint development.

 

Elsewedy pointed out the importance of economic cooperation between Egypt and Sudan, noting that the Egyptian and Sudanese economies are closely linked, and are characterized by various advantages that provide great opportunities for joint cooperation. He underscored the importance of the private sector’s participation in development projects, through major infrastructure projects, such as roads, bridges, construction, health and education projects.

 

Saud Al-Berbair, representative of Sudanese businessmen, thanked the Egyptian government and people for their firm support for Sudan in its ordeal, stressing that the first Egyptian-Sudanese Businessmen Forum 2025 represents a major stride towards strengthening economic relations between Arab Egypt and Sudan.
