Army expands in Sennar State, takes control of Al-Suki and other areas

The Sudanese Army regained, Thursday, control of the city of Al-Suki in Sennar State, southeast of Sudan, after battles it led against the Rapid Support Forces (SUNA), which had retaken other areas from it.

The army’s recapture of Al-Suki has come less than 24 hours after it took control of the strategically located Al-Dinder Locality linking the states of Sennar and Al-Gadarif in eastern Sudan.

Military sources told “Sudan Tribune” that “after violent battles led by the armed forces, other regular forces and mobilized forces, they were able to retake the city of Al-Suki from the RSF grip.”

The Sennar Youth Gathering, an independent entity active in monitoring violations in Sennar State, confirmed that the army took control of the town.

Meanwhile, military sources reported that a military force coming from the Blue Nile region was able to take control of the Jalgani area, and other areas adjacent to the Abu Hajar Locality, south of Sennar State, in addition to Al-Lakandi.

On July 25, the outlaw RSF took control of the town of Al-Suki, about 40 kilometers east of Sennar, where they committed widespread violations against civilians, including killing, looting, arrest, and forced displacement. Since early October, the Sudanese army has tightened the noose on the Rapid Support Forces stationed in the areas of Al-Dinder, Singa, Al-Suki, and Karkoj, after retaking the Jabal Moya area, which is a crossroads for the states of Sennar, White Nile, and Al-Gezira, which led to the cutting of the Rapid Support Forces’ supply lines.
