Aqar Directs Action to Address Arms Proliferation in Khartoum State

Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Malik Aqar, and TSC Member and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Shams-El-Din Kabbashi, arrived in Khartoum on Saturday.

Upon his arrival, General Aqar held a joint meeting with the Khartoum government and the state security committee.

The Wali (governor) of Khartoum State briefed Agar and Kabashi on the stages the state has gone through to restore services and compensate for losses due to the war.

On behalf of the State Security Committee, Khartoum Police Director Lt. Gen. (Police) Amir Abdel-Moneim provided details on the joint plans to secure the state through deployment, checkpoints, joint patrols, and the security cell. He asserted the plan’s success in maintaining security.

For his part, Agar said, “We still have significant efforts ahead of us to receive citizens and provide water, electricity, and security services.”

He added, “We need to work hard to transform the consequences of the war into positive action, and we are seeking to address its effects by achieving community reconciliation and eliminating resentment and grudges.” He also called for the necessity to address the issue of arms proliferation.
