Al-Hilu’s Militia Attacks El-Fashir… Al-Dagalo Family Attacks it with Animals

The army and joint forces repelled a violent attack on El-Fashir, Saturday, by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, composed of Colombian mercenaries and Al-Hilu’s forces.
Military sources told Al Jazeera that the RSF militia violently shelled various locations in El-Fashir with heavy artillery, including the Abu Shouk camp for displaced persons (IDPs), the Abu Shouk and First Class neighborhoods, and the Saudi Hospital.
Drones circled the city’s skies for hours.
Military sources had previously reported heavy clashes between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces militia south of El-Fashir.
El-Fashir has witnessed daily clashes between the two sides for weeks, as the militia seeks to seize control of the city through repeated attacks, while the army continues to repel these attacks.
In the same context, North Darfur Wali (governor) Al-Hafiz Bakhit revealed that the militia used animals in Friday’s battle in El-Fashir, a scene that reflects the ongoing attempts to seize control of strategic locations within the city.
The Wali confirmed that the army and its supporting forces inflicted heavy losses on the militia during the clashes.
Bakhit denounced what he described as the “continuous interference” of the SPLM-N forces, led by Abdelaziz Al-Hilu, in the fighting alongside the Rapid Support Forces. He explained that this is not the first time the SPLM-N has participated in the attack on El-Fashir, which raises questions about the objectives of this military coordination.
Meanwhile, the Coordination of Resistance Committees in El-Fashir warned against the consequences of not quickly intervening to lift the siege on the city, stressing that the continuation of the current situation will lead to dire consequences. In a Facebook post, it noted that the city has endured many armed attacks and a stifling two-year siege, paying a heavy price that cannot be settled with praise or extolling heroic deeds.
The statement noted that the city has been exhausted by clashes, drained by blogging, and ravaged by hunger, striking at the heart of its social and moral fabric.
The Coordination of the Resistance Committees added: “We do not deny the courage of the city’s residents, nor do we diminish the symbolism of its steadfastness, but we warn against falling into the trap of surrendering to myth.
Those who bet on El-Fashir’s continued steadfastness without real intervention are merely reproducing the myth.
“The same myth that cities have fallen into before, for example, the city of Nyala. History does not absolve anyone of responsibility for inaction, nor does it erase his silence, no matter how long the distance between the crime and the martyrdom.” It added: “Therefore, we say, from a moral standpoint, that we must act immediately to lift the siege on El-Fashir by force. There is no courtesy in the axioms, and no city can survive alone, and no heroism can endure if it is left in the open without cover. The logic of reality forces us to act and realize that steadfastness at a certain moment needs someone to support it, not someone who applauds it from afar. El-Fashir will not remain steadfast alone forever, and when steadfastness is left alone, it turns from heroism into a burden.”
