Al-Hilu Movement Disavows Alliance with Hemeidti Militia
The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (SPLM-N), led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu, has sought to distance itself from any alliance with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as Hemeidti.
SPLM-N Secretary-General Ammar Amun — who is also described as the so-called foreign minister of the Janjaweed administration — claimed that the movement is committed to neutrality and non-alignment in the ongoing war between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF militia.
Amun said the movement remains stationed in its positions in South Kordofan, asserting that recent clashes with the army were merely a “reaction” to an attack on the Habila area. He stressed that the movement does not side with either party to the conflict, reaffirming what he described as its continued independent stance toward the war.
However, the SPLM-N has opened areas under its control to the Janjaweed militia, while its leader Abdelaziz Al-Hilu holds the position of deputy to RSF leader Hemeidti.
