Al-Geneina Slaughterhouse”: Torture of Elderly Detainee Exposes Secret Militia Prisons

Leaked images of a detainee in his sixties bearing severe signs of torture have sparked widespread outrage and renewed concerns over the conditions inside “unknown detention centers” run by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in West Darfur State, amid reports of a purported investigation committee formed in response to public pressure.

Informed sources told *Darfur 24* that the elderly man—whose body shows deep wounds and injuries caused by torture—remains in detention without trial. He was recently transferred to hospital in critical condition after his health deteriorated due to physical abuse in custody.

Sources indicate that these prisons hold a mix of civilians detained under the “Emergency Law” on fabricated charges, alongside captured soldiers from the Sudanese Armed Forces and fighters from armed movements taken prisoner during previous battles in Al-Geneina.

The facilities are reportedly operated outside judicial oversight, where detainees are subjected to treatment governed by the “rule of force.”
