Al-Dagalo militia assassinates Catholic Church pastor in El-Fashir

Al-Sho’la Sports Club in El-Fashir has announced the death of Father Luca Jomo Banu, pastor of the Roman Catholic Church in El-Fashir. He died of serious injuries following a violent bombing by the terrorist Al-Dagalo militia on the church in Al-Azama neighborhood, adjacent to El-Fashir’s market. His death followed days of suffering.
The attack targeting the Catholic Church was not just a random incident; it was a systematic bombing operation that claimed the life of one of the city’s symbols of coexistence and peace, Father Luca, known for his noble stances in supporting social peace and promoting the values of tolerance among the various components of the local community.
Christian Solidarity Worldwide had previously announced the martyrdom of Father Luca Jomo Banu at the hands of the militia, stressing that the targeting of the Roman Catholic Church came in the context of systematic attacks against religious centers and civil society organizations that have been taking place in Darfur for months.
