Al-Burhan Visits Riyadh for Talks with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman
President of the Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan met with the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at Al-Yamamah Palace on Monday, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The meeting focused on the latest developments in Sudan, their implications, and ongoing efforts to achieve security and stability. Al-Burhan’s visit, at the Crown Prince’s invitation, comes amid continuing conflict in Sudan.
A source told Al-Tara Sudan that talks will cover details of an initiative proposed by Mohammed bin Salman to former U.S. President Donald Trump to resolve the Sudanese conflict, as well as plans to enhance bilateral cooperation in economic, security, and humanitarian fields.
Diplomatic expert Ambassador Yassir Khadr said the visit is highly significant and could have major repercussions for Sudan. He noted that Saudi moves aim to secure the Red Sea and prevent Emirati expansion, citing recent Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki’s visit as evidence of the region’s strategic importance.
Khidr added that Riyadh is concerned about the Hadramawt situation in Yemen and seeks to avoid a similar scenario in Sudan.
During Al-Burhan’s previous visit in March, both countries agreed to establish a Saudi-Sudanese Coordination Council to strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors.
