President the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, stressed to the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ramtane Lamamra, on Monday, his country’s commitment to working with the United Nations in all fields.
TSC President said in a statement on “Telegram” that Al-Burhan called on the United Nations and the international community to exert pressure on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and condemn “the violations they are committing in a stricter and clearer manner.”
Al-Burhan underlined, during his meeting with the UN envoy, the need for the international community to take “decisive and deterrent action against the countries that stand behind the rebels and support them.”
He also called for taking the necessary measures regarding “the failure to implement Security Council resolutions to stop the entry of weapons into the Darfur region and stop the attack on the city of El-Fashir,” the capital of North Darfur State.
Al-Burhan pointed out that if citizens return to their homes and villages, a political process will be launched and elections will be held in which the Sudanese people will decide their political future without external interference, according to the statement.
