Airstrikes Halt Operations at RSF-Linked Gold Company
Operations at Al-Junaid Company, affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, have ceased at gold mines in the town of Songo, Al-Radom locality in South Darfur, following an airstrike last week.
The strike targeted the company’s headquarters at the “Agbash” mine, resulting in casualties among engineers, workers, and security personnel, in addition to the destruction of several vehicles. Injured individuals were transferred to Nyala for treatment, according to eyewitnesses.
Local sources told Darfur24 that the airstrike hit multiple sections of the facility, including the gold processing plant, storage units, and parts of the machinery, effectively putting the company out of operation.
Additional sources reported a second strike on the same site later that day, following prolonged drone activity over the area, triggering widespread panic among miners.
The Sudanese Armed Forces had previously conducted airstrikes on the same site, located over 300 kilometers south of Nyala, which had temporarily halted operations before they resumed in November last year.
