Agar Holds Security Talks in Juba with Salva Kiir and South Sudanese Security Leaders
Vice-President of the Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Malik Agar, held a series of security-focused meetings with South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit and senior officials of South Sudan’s security sector in Juba.
According to a statement from the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Agar provided President Kiir with a detailed briefing on Sudan’s military, humanitarian, and political situation, reaffirming Sudan’s desire for South Sudan to play a central role in supporting peace efforts in Sudan.
The discussions also addressed issues concerning Sudanese national security, the security of South Sudan, and ways to enhance stability in both countries.
Agar arrived in Juba on Sunday and met with the Minister of Interior, the Inspector General of Police, the Director of Internal Security, the Director of External Security, and the Director of Military Intelligence.
He stressed the importance of working together to end the conflict in Sudan and prevent its escalation to the wider region. Agar noted that Sudan’s challenges resemble those faced by South Sudan and emphasized that cooperation between the two countries is crucial for the welfare of their peoples and the stability of both nations.
