After swearing-in… New Minister of Defense: We will hold accountable anyone who neglects their duties.

Lt. Gen. Hassan Daoud Kayan and Lt. Gen. Babiker Samra Mustafa have taken oath of office before President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan on Saturday, as Ministers of Defense and Interior, respectively.

 

 

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by the Transitional Prime Minister, Dr. Kamil Idris; the TSC Secretary-General, Lt. Gen. Mohamed Al-Gali Ali Youssef and the Head of the Judiciary in the Red Sea State, representing the Chief Justice.

 

 

In a press statement, Lt. Gen. Hassan Daoud Kayan expressed his deep appreciation to the country’s leadership for the trust they placed in him by appointing him Minister of Defense. He noted that the country is going through difficult circumstances that require unity to preserve its territorial integrity.

 

 

The Minister of Defense underscored his commitment to realizing security, stability, and peace and defending Sudan’s sovereignty. He said, “We will work in coordination and cooperation with various state institutions to achieve Sudan’s higher goals and meet the aspirations of the Sudanese people.”

 

 

 

The Minister of Defense said, “We reassure the Sudanese people that we will be a safe hand in preserving the country’s unity and will strive to achieve the rule of law in Sudan and hold accountable anyone who neglects their duties.” He emphasized the importance of national unity in building Sudan, praising the sacrifices and bravery of the armed forces, the joint forces, the mobilized forces, and the popular resistance in defending the homeland, its territory, its unity, and its sovereignty.

 

 

 

The Minister of Defense affirmed the necessity of achieving peace, security, and stability to accomplish the desired development, affirming that the armed forces will work to fill the gaps, protect the Sudanese economy, and preserve the country’s gains.

 

 

For his part, Lt. Gen. Babiker Samra Mustafa Ali, Minister of Interior, pointed out that Sudan has been facing security challenges, underlining the state’s ability to overcome them. He praised the victories achieved by the armed forces and their supporting forces, adding that the armed forces are capable of defeating the terrorist militias.

 

 

He pointed to the role of the Ministry of Interior in the coming period in extending security and providing services to citizens, noting that an emergency security plan will be developed to enforce the state’s authority and the rule of law.
