Abdul-Wahid Movement imposes fees on commercial vehicles

Abdul-Wahid Mohamed Nour’s Movement imposed levies and fees on commercial vehicles between Tawila and El-Fashir.

Sources confirmed to (Darfur 24) on Tuesday that the Sudan Liberation Movement (SPLM), led by Abdul-Wahid Mohamed Nour imposed an amount of 2 billion Sudanese pounds as a tax on every truck entering or exiting El-Fashir illegally.

A source close to SLM in Tawila reported that the movement had prevented the smuggling of goods between Tawila and El-Fashir after the administrative convoy that the SLM was supervising stopped last November. The source indicated that the road linking Tawila and El-Fashir witnessed security lapses that put the lives of citizens at risk following the stoppage of the administrative convoy, which forced the civil authority to prevent smuggling for fear of the safety of citizens and their vehicles.
