A Sudanese medical team performs a rare operation to remove a third leg (appendix) from a child in Khartoum

 

The Ministry of Health in Khartoum State has achieved a new medical accomplishment in a series of successes during the war.

 

The official spokesman for the Ministry of Health in Khartoum State, Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim, revealed that a team of doctors performed a rare surgical operation, the fifth in the world and the first in Sudan, which is the removal of a third leg (appendix) from a three-month-old child in a hospital in Khartoum State.

 

Dr. Ibrahim pointed out that this is a rare case and occurs among every 15 million children.

 

This is considered an achievement for the cadres of the Ministry of Health in Khartoum State. The medical team that performed the operation, who led by Mr. Moamen Mahmoud Ibrahim, a plastic surgeon, Mr. Amin Mohamed Yassin, a plastic surgeon and Dr. Arej Abdullah, an anesthesia consultant included, Dr. Muhand Ahmed Ali, Dr.

Musab Salah-Eddin, Dr. Maani Ali, Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Dirar, Dr. Magdy Ishag Ibrahim, Dr. Osama Abu Bakr Mohamed, and Dr. Al-Tahir Al-Hadi Al-Tahir; under the supervision of Dr. Muataz Ahmed Hamed.

The operation took 4 hours and now the child is in a very good condition and receiving full care.
