A former Sudanese minister reveals information about Hemeidti’s whereabout

A former Sudanese Minister has revealed the location where Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander Mohamed Hamdan “Hemeidti” filmed his latest speech.

The militia broadcast a speech by Hemeidti amidst a crowd of fighters. This was his second since his last meeting and appearance with the forces on the first day of the war, near the Federal Government Chamber’s building in the vicinity of the Republican Palace in Khartoum.

His previous appearances had been limited to audio and video recordings.

The RSF militia did not disclose the location, but Hemeidti hinted at his presence inside Sudanese territory, likely in areas under his forces’ control in the Darfur region.

However, the Minister of Youth and Sports and former Sudanese ambassador to Tripoli, Haj Majid Suwar, revealed that the meeting between the RSF commander, Hemeidti, and his forces did not take place inside Sudanese territory, as previously reported, but rather in areas under the control of the Libyan National Army commander, retired Maj. Gen. Khalifa Haftar, inside Libya.

In a post on his Facebook page, Suwar said he had confirmed information from reliable Libyan sources regarding the celebration attended by Hemeidti, and that it was filmed deep inside Libyan territory.

For his part, security and strategic expert, retired Brig. Gen. Amir Hassan, cast doubt on this military buildup. He explained to Al Jazeera Net that the militia does not have such a large number of forces in one place as those shown in the video. Had they been in any area of Darfur or Kordofan, they could have been monitored and targeted, as these are open operational areas. He suggested that the images were likely fabricated through technical manipulation.
