Missing Arms Shipment Sparks Disputes Within the RSF Militia

Sudanese and international press reports have revealed escalating ‎disputes and growing security tensions within the Rapid Support ‎Forces (RSF) militia, following the disappearance of a large shipment of ‎weapons that was being transported to the group from Libyan ‎territory, amid mutual accusations involving senior commanders.‎

The Brown Land newspaper reported, citing sources it described as ‎well-informed, that militia commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, ‎known as Hemedti, had issued strict orders placing Mabrouk Mubarak ‎Saleem, leader of the Free Lions Party and a senior figure in the ‎alliance, under tight house arrest at his residence in the city of Nyala. ‎His mobile phones were also confiscated, and his external ‎communications cut off.‎

According to leaked reports, the detention measures followed direct ‎accusations against Mabrouk Mubarak Saleem of misappropriating the ‎missing arms shipment and selling it to other parties. Hemedti made ‎his release and the lifting of house arrest conditional on one of only ‎two options: either the entire missing military shipment must be ‎returned, or its financial value must be paid in cash.‎
