RSF Militia Bombs Power Substation Under Construction and Oil Pumping Station in Eastern Sudan
Drones belonging to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on Saturday targeted the Haya electricity substation, which is still under construction, as well as an oil pumping station along the pipeline transporting crude oil to Bashayer Port on Sudan’s Red Sea coast in the east of the country. The attacks triggered fires and caused damage to the targeted facilities.
This is the second attack of its kind targeting energy and electricity facilities in Haya over the past three days. It comes amid a series of coordinated drone attacks on energy and electricity installations in several states under the control of the Armed Forces, amid government accusations that Ethiopia is facilitating the launch of drones from its territory.
More than 13 electricity distribution substations in the states of Al-Gadharef, Khartoum, Al-Gezira, Red Sea, Sennar, White Nile and South Kordofan have been subjected to attacks and sustained significant damage, resulting in power outages in several cities.
Local sources told Sudan Tribune that a strategic drone fired missiles at the Haya electricity substation, triggering extensive fires inside the facility.
