Authorities Condemn Drone Attack on Schools and Food Storage Facilities in El-Obeid

The Government of North Kordofan State on Monday condemned a drone attack that targeted the buildings of the Ministry of Education and the Water Sector in the city of El-Obeid, saying that the attack also hit school feeding and textbook storage facilities.

The government’s official spokesperson, Jumaa Al-Mahdi Jumaa, said in a statement that the attack carried out by the militia hit warehouses containing food supplies designated for schools and school-year materials, as well as buildings belonging to the Water Sector.

He added that targeting educational institutions and food storage facilities constitutes an assault on the foundations of the educational process and basic services, threatens students’ right to education, and exacerbates the suffering of citizens. He affirmed that the government would continue to protect civilian facilities and ensure the security of the educational process.
