RSF Drone Strike Kills at Least 13 Civilians at Court in Om Rawaba
At least 13 people were killed and more than 20 others injured on Tuesday in an air strike carried out by a Rapid Support Forces (RSF) drone targeting the courthouse in Om Rawaba, North Kordofan State.
Several areas of North Kordofan have come under attacks by RSF drones, causing extensive damage to infrastructure in El-Obeid and other areas and killing dozens of civilians.
The Sudan Doctors Network said in a statement that 13 people were killed and 22 others injured in the attack on Om Rawaba.
The network condemned the RSF’s deliberate targeting of civilian facilities, saying the attack failed to distinguish between military and civilian targets. It said the strike occurred during peak hours, when civilian movement was heavy, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries in a clear violation of international humanitarian law and rules prohibiting attacks on civilians and civilian objects.
The Sudan Doctors Network called for an immediate halt to attacks on cities, residential neighborhoods and civilian facilities, urging that civilians be spared the consequences of military operations. It also called for strict compliance with international humanitarian law and the protection of civilians, and urged the international community to pressure RSF leaders and hold them fully responsible for the Om Rawaba massacre.
