Secret Fuel Smuggling Routes to Chad and Sudan Tracked, Operated by Haftar Militias
A Libya-based operations group has reported monitoring movements of fuel tankers near the Majdoul checkpoint south of Libya, heading toward Chadian territory and onward to Sudan, and accused armed groups affiliated with militias linked to Khalifa Haftar of being behind the operations.
According to the “Southern Liberation Operations Room,” as reported by “Al-Tanasuh,” the tankers are moving in an organized manner toward the southern borders. The group said the activities are part of smuggling networks that are draining Libya’s state resources and exacerbating the fuel crisis, particularly in the southern regions, which suffer from weak supply chains.
The operations room warned against the continuation of what it described as illegal activities, stressing that it will take necessary measures to confront them and protect state assets, according to a statement published on its Facebook page on Tuesday.
