Chad Threatens “Immediate and Forceful” Response to Al-Dagalo Militia After Border Clashes

The Chadian government has threatened to respond firmly to any new violations of its territory by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, following the killing of seven Chadian soldiers in clashes with the RSF militia in eastern Chad.

Chad has opened its airspace, airports, and borders to the RSF and has also facilitated the arrival of United Arab Emirates (UAE)–supplied support to the militia via Am Djarass Airport.

In a statement, Chadian Minister of Communication Jassim Sherif Mohamed said his government condemns the “armed operation” that “illegally” targeted Chadian territory by elements involved in Sudan’s internal conflict. He added: “The government hereby issues a formal and final warning to the perpetrators of this attack and to those standing behind them.”

The Chadian government’s statement stressed that “any new attempt at attack, provocation, or violation of Chadian territory and borders will be met with an immediate and forceful response, without leniency, in accordance with the laws of the Republic and the provisions of international law.”

According to Chadian authorities, the attack also resulted in injuries and material damage, describing it as “a clear, serious, and repeated violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Chad.”

The government expressed regret that “this is not the first time Sudanese conflict parties have violated Chad’s borders, leading to loss of life and significant material damage,” and further condemned “multiple violations of Chadian airspace by parties to the Sudanese conflict.”
