Escalation in South Kordofan: Hemeidti Militia Again Bombards UN Compound in Kadugli

The South Kordofan State Government announced that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia renewed its attack on Monday evening on the headquarters of the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) in Kadugli, marking the second such incident in recent days.

State Information Director Adam Salim said the attack was carried out using drones and also targeted the Government Secretariat courtyard and areas surrounding the General Intelligence Service, without causing human casualties. He noted that the militia has intensified shelling of the city with heavy artillery and drones to instill fear among civilians.

A previous attack resulted in the killing of six Bangladeshi UN peacekeepers, prompting UNISFA to withdraw its forces from Kadugli. The city is facing complex humanitarian conditions due to an ongoing siege, shortages of food and medicine, and severe constraints on the delivery of humanitarian aid.
