For a Quarter Century… Sudan’s Debt to the Arab Monetary Fund Rescheduled
The Ministry of Finance signed, during a roundtable meeting, an agreement to reschedule Sudan’s debt to the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) in installments over a period of 25 years. The agreement was signed on behalf of the Sudanese government by Minister of Finance Gebreil Ibrahim, and on behalf of the Fund by its Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Fahd Al-Turki, in the presence of the Ministry’s Planning Undersecretary and technical officials.
Minister Gebreil Ibrahim pledged the Sudanese government’s commitment to the agreement, praising the Fund’s efforts in supporting the country’s vulnerable groups. He emphasized the importance of the agreement, describing it as a significant service to small producers, noting that any deductions in the Fund’s projects ultimately affect the producers.
Dr. Fahd Al-Turki described the signing of the agreement as a pivotal and essential milestone in the Fund’s relations with Sudan, highlighting its role as a strategic partner in providing facilitation, technical support, and training.
