Hemeidti’s militia prevents Fletcher from entering El-Fashir

UN sources confirmed that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia prevented the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Tom Fletcher, from entering El-Fashir.

Fletcher explained during a video press briefing from the Adré border crossing with Chad that he had held “difficult discussions” with RSF representatives in the Korma area of ​​Darfur, during which he stressed the need to protect civilians and ensure safe passage for their evacuation and the entry of humanitarian aid convoys.

The UN official added that progress had been made regarding the entry of UN teams into El-Fashir in accordance with the organization’s conditions, expressing his hope that this would be achieved in the coming days or weeks, according to the UN News website.
