Al-Burhan Orders Forces to Advance Toward Darfur
The Governor of Darfur Region and Chairman of the Sudan Liberation Movement, Minni Arko Minnawi, revealed that they had received directives from President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, to advance westward.
He pledged to liberate Sudan inch by inch and to push forward as far as Umm Dafuq, near the border with the Central African Republic.
Addressing a gathering of SAF personnel at the Armored Corps Headquarters in Khartoum, Minnawi said that “every step taken westward is more precious than any other,” vowing to reach Umm Dafuq and restore Sudan’s sovereignty, dignity, pride, and honor. He added, quoting the Qur’anic verse, “So let those who compete, compete in that.”
Minnawi rejected what he described as the occupation of Sudan by foreign mercenaries, warning those who believe they can subdue Sudan “with their money, gas, and oil,” accusing them of lacking values, humanity, and any understanding of the Sudanese people’s determination. “We are the true owners of this land and its people,” he declared.
He also referred to what he called illegitimate ambitions that have entered Sudan, causing death, division, and displacement, stressing that dignity will be regained through resilience. Minnawi affirmed that even if an area falls, it does not mark the end of the battle, announcing a continued advance toward western Sudan.
Two days earlier, Minnawi had conditioned his acceptance of a humanitarian truce on the withdrawal of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia from cities, residential areas, and hospitals, as well as the release of abductees and the safe return of displaced persons. He warned that any truce without fulfilling these conditions would lead to the division of Sudan.
