U.S. Proposes Nine-Month Ceasefire in Sudan – Welcomed by Both Government and Militia

Amid the ongoing bloody clashes in Sudan between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, sources told Al Arabiya/Al Hadath that Massad Boulas, Senior Adviser to U.S. President Donald Trump, informed journalists that Washington has presented a ceasefire proposal for the country.

According to the sources, the proposed truce could last for three to nine months.

Boulas indicated that both the SAF and the RSF militia initially welcomed the humanitarian proposal but clarified that they are still reviewing its terms, as it constitutes an agreement encompassing monitoring, implementation mechanisms, and technical and logistical arrangements.

The U.S. adviser expressed hope that an agreement to halt hostilities in Sudan could be reached. He also denied the existence of any direct or indirect negotiations between the two sides, noting that the U.S. administration is maintaining separate communication with each party.
