El-Fashir Massacre at “Dar Al-Arqam” Shelter: 60 Killed, Dozens Injured in Militia Drone Strike

At least 60 civilians were killed and dozens more injured in a drone strike carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on a displaced persons (IDPs) shelter in El-Fashir, the capital of North Darfur State, on Saturday, according to eyewitnesses and medical sources.

The spokesperson for Zamzam IDP camp, Mohamed Khamis Douda, told Sudan Tribune that “a drone launched by the RSF militia struck Dar Al-Arqam School on Saturday, killing a large number of civilians, some of whom were burned to death inside the classrooms.”

Douda added that the same shelter had come under a similar artillery attack on Friday evening, targeting underground shelters where displaced people had sought refuge, killing at least 30 people.

Eyewitnesses reported that the attack was carried out using drones and heavy artillery, destroying large parts of the center, which houses hundreds of displaced persons—mostly women, children, and the elderly.

Survivors said the drone fired four missiles—two of which hit the underground shelters directly, killing 30 people and completely destroying the shelters.

As some survivors tried to flee to another section of the center, the drone pursued them with two additional missiles, killing 30 more.

The death toll has risen to about 60, with more than 40 injured, some of whom remain on the ground unburied due to the dire security situation.
