Two Airdrops — SAF Conducts New Aerial Supply Operation in El-Fashir

The Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) carried out a successful airdrop operation at dawn on Tuesday, delivering supplies in two separate rounds to its forces stationed inside the city of El-Fashir. This marks the second operation of its kind in less than ten days.

The army had halted supply missions to its troops in the capital of North Darfur since last April, after the air defenses of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) Militia shot down one of its fighter jets over the city.

On September 29, the army managed to deliver military supplies to its forces there following days of intensive drone activity that targeted positions in the Jagogago area east of El-Fashir, where the militia had installed advanced air defense systems operated by Colombian mercenaries, according to security sources.

Eyewitnesses told Sudan Tribune that an Antonov cargo plane flew at about 3:30 a.m. at high altitude before releasing its cargo of supplies over areas controlled by the army, without facing any interception from the militia’s air defenses.

The sources added that another aircraft returned about two hours later and carried out a successful airdrop inside positions held by the armed forces.

According to the sources, the supplies included various types of ammunition, food, and life-saving medicines that reached army units enduring severe siege and military pressure.
