Violent clashes between Al-Dagalo militia and Al-Hilu forces in El Fasher
The city of El Fasher, North Darfur, is witnessing violent clashes between the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) led by Abdelaziz Al-Hilu and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The clashes erupted after the latter’s forces killed one of the sons of the movement’s commanders, according to Russia Today. Sources confirmed that Al-Hilu’s movement has withdrawn some of its fighters from the El Fasher axis. Meanwhile, the Sudanese army and supporting forces repelled three militia attacks on El Fasher.
Local and international reports describe these attacks as systematic and aimed at undermining the humanitarian situation in the region. Besieged cities like El Fasher are suffering from severe shortages of food, medicine, and health services, amid UN warnings of a worsening humanitarian catastrophe in the light of the ongoing fighting and escalating violations against civilians.
