Trump’s Senior Advisor Threatens Al-Dagalo
The US President’s Senior Advisor for Africa and the Middle East, Massad Boulos, has expressed Washington’s “alarm” over reports of the deteriorating humanitarian situation in El Fasher and the surrounding displacement camps.
Boulos called on the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia to take urgent action to ensure aid reaches those affected by famine in El Fasher and the surrounding displacement camps, in light of the ongoing escalation.
In a tweet on the social networking site “X” on Saturday, the senior Trump advisor urged “the warring parties to fulfill their obligations under the Jeddah Declaration and implement Security Council Resolution 2736, including the protection of civilians and allowing unhindered humanitarian access in Darfur and throughout the country,” he said.
He added, “The lives of innocent people, including women and children, depend on it.”
The US position comes amid an escalating humanitarian crisis in El Fasher, with widespread displacement and shortages of basic supplies, amid the Rapid Support Forces’ attempts to seize control of the last remaining capital in Darfur, which remains under the control of the Sudanese army.
The Rapid Support Forces have imposed a suffocating siege on the capital of North Darfur State and capital of the region for more than a year, resulting in a severe shortage of food and medical supplies.
