In Kaykal Presence… Drones Target SAF Day celebration in Tamboul
Drones have targeted the Tamboul area during a celebration held by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF), according to two witnesses who spoke to AFP.
An eyewitness from Tamboul in eastern Al-Gezira told AFP, “As hundreds of people gathered in the celebration square, I heard the sound of an engine. Anti-aircraft guns were fired, and there was a commotion.”
There were no immediate reports of casualties.
There were no comments from the army or the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) regarding the strike, the first in the area in months.
Al-Gezira State, where Tamboul is located, has remained relatively calm since the Sudanese Armed Forces recaptured it from the militia in January.
Sources revealed that Abu Agla Kaykal, commander of the Sudan Shield Forces allied with the army, attended the celebration.
It is to be recalled that Kaykal defected from the militia to the army last year; he has been accused by both sides to the conflict of committing atrocities.
