“Explodes with minimal weight”… Warning of minefields near Omdurman Bridge and in the Acacia Forest
Khartoum: Sudanese Echoes
The National Mine Action Center has revealed that quantities of war remnants collected from several sites, including 50,000 shells, will be detonated next week in West Omdurman.
He told SUNA that teams have begun preparing for the detonation, which will take place in batches over the next month.
Khalid warned citizens to stay away from the area where anti-personnel minefields were planted by the militia in the Acacia area until the situation is fully secured. He explained that the area in question extends between the White Nile Bridge leading to Al-Morada and Al-Fateihab Bridge from Al-Mugran, opposite the Martyr’s Mosque, and is located in the Acacia area.
He revealed that specialized teams are working due to the danger of this type of mine, which explodes when pressed with any weight, and some explode with less than a kilogram.
He added that the day before yesterday, we secured and detonated a number of mines that were visible around the bridge and that were collected by a work team in the area. He pointed out that work was underway to prepare another work team to begin field work within the next two days and continue until the entire area is secured.
