(12) Heatstroke Deaths in Three Days in Port Sudan
The Heatstroke Center at Al-Taqaddum Hospital in Port Sudan has received more than 30 heatstroke cases out of 79 recorded so far.
The number of deaths over the past three days has reached 12, spread across several hospitals.
The Wali (governor) of the Red Sea State, Mustafa Mohamed Nour, accompanied by the Director of the Health Sector, Ahlam Abdel Rasoul, visited the Heatstroke Center.
Ahlam explained that Al-Taqaddum Hospital received more than 30 heatstroke cases, while 12 deaths were recorded at various treatment centers across the state in the past few days.
She urged citizens to avoid direct sunlight from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Ahlam underlined the importance of drinking water regularly and using heat-relieving measures to reduce heat stress, such as sprinkling water on the body, using wet wipes, reducing working hours, seeking shade, and drinking plenty of fluids.
