(2023) Bodies Terrorize Khartoum and Prompt Urgent Action from the State
The Khartoum Locality Security Committee has revealed urgent measures to address the serious health situation resulting from the burial of over 2023 bodies in a superficial manner in several areas of the capital.
These bodies were buried in an unseemly manner during the period when the armed militia controlled some units of the locality, posing a direct health threat with the onset of the autumn season.
The Executive Director of Khartoum Locality, Abdul-Moneim Al-Bashir, chaired a meeting of the Security Committee and confirmed that the bodies that were monitored are distributed in different areas.
A specialized committee comprising relevant authorities has been formed to exhume the remains and rebury them according to Sharia and health regulations in designated cemeteries.
The committee explained that this step was taken in response to urgent health necessities, especially with the start of the autumn season, which increases the likelihood of the spread of epidemics and diseases resulting from the decomposition of bodies buried superficially in an unsuitable environment.
The committee appealed to citizens to cooperate with the authorities and avoid approaching work sites to ensure their safety.
The Khartoum Security Committee affirmed that this file was a top priority in the plans to secure the capital city from a health perspective.
