Sudanese Government: We Control 60% of Gold Produced in 2024

The Director of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, Mohamed Tahir Omar, has confirmed that the company succeeded in controlling 60% of the total gold produced in 2024, a step he described as significant progress toward controlling production and regulating the country’s mining sector.
Omar, during a special briefing to the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Minerals, indicated that production operations are currently taking place in six states, without specifying which ones. He explained that South Kordofan is about to officially enter the production cycle in the coming period.
A press release issued by the company explained that this percentage of control is part of the state’s efforts to enhance transparency and ensure that mining revenues reach the public treasury.
He emphasized that the company is continuing to expand its technical and supervisory control over gold production operations at both traditional and organized mining sites. This development comes at a time when gold is one of Sudan’s most important sources of foreign exchange, especially in light of the deepening economic crisis and financial pressures resulting from the ongoing armed conflict in several parts of the country.
