Drinking water shortages in many neighborhoods in Khartoum State… and philanthropists dig wells

Sudanese Echoes: Al-Taj Osman
An extensive field visit by Sudanese Echoes in Khartoum State monitored the state’s water and electricity supply situation.
Some neighborhoods in the capital have overcome the scarcity of water supply by digging wells donated by a number of philanthropists and operating them with solar energy systems.
The newspaper also reported the return of water supply to some neighborhoods in Khartoum, particularly the Rumaila neighborhood. However, several neighborhoods in the capital continue to suffer from water shortages, particularly the neighborhoods of Al-Sababi, Korea, Abu Adam, and Nasser Extension.
As for the situation in Omdurman, one citizen described it as “fine,” as most neighborhoods have access to water and electricity.
During its tour of the capital, Khartoum, the newspaper monitored trucks belonging to the Electricity Authority carrying a number of electrical converters and unloading them at the Burri Electricity Station on Al-Ma’rad Street and Al-Sitteen Street, as most of the power outages were caused by the rebel militia destroying the electrical converters.
In addition, a number of technicians began work on maintaining the high-voltage lines in some neighborhoods in southern Khartoum, indicating that they will then move to the Al-Manshiya and Al-Riyadh areas, which indicates that electricity will soon be restored to those neighborhoods.
