Investigation: Al-Taj Osman

The fate of 11 Sudanese citizens, including three children, who disappeared in Abu Hamad Desert on the Sudanese-Egyptian border, remains shrouded in mystery, despite nearly a year having passed since their disappearance.

According to statements from several relatives of the missing, they have received no information about their fate, whether they are alive or dead. They describe it as if the desert had swallowed them up.

The wife of Sharif Hassan Sharif, one of the missing persons, revealed to (Sudanese Echoes) that he last called her on the phone on June 30, 2024, and told her that they had left Al-Abar (wells) area on the Sudanese-Egyptian border on their way to the Egyptian city of Aswan in a pickup car accompanied by a number of citizens and families, but they did not reach it and we do not know what happened to them.

She indicated that an unknown person contacted her in December of last year via her WhatsApp number and explained to her that her husband had given him her number to contact her, and he told her that her husband was with them in one of the areas.

She said that he was speaking to her in an exaggerated, cautious voice, then he quickly ended the call and has not contacted her again until today.
