Over a Shoe… A Militia Soldier Kills a Trader, a Child, and a Woman in Central Darfur

Four people have been killed in the town of Bindisi, located 129 kilometers south of Zalingei, Central Darfur State, as a result of a quarrel that broke out between a militia soldier and a trader in the town market.
Three identical sources told Darfur 24 that the incident occurred after a militia soldier refused to pay for a pair of shoes he had purchased from a trader.
A verbal altercation with the trader escalated into a fight, during which the soldier opened fire on the trader, killing him instantly. A woman and her child were also killed at the scene.
The trader’s brother responded by opening fire from his shop, killing the soldier.
The incident led to security tensions, with relatives of both sides mobilizing fighters in anticipation of a potential confront action. This prompted urgent intervention from the militia commandership, and a settlement was reached between the two sides.
