58 prisoners killed and injured in Al-Obeid jail by UAE-led drone attack
The Sudanese Doctors Network announced on Saturday that 21 people were killed and 47 others were injured in a drone attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia targeting Al-Obeid prison.
The network confirmed that the bombing, which it described as “deliberate,” targeted civil facilities, including the large prison housing approximately 5,000 inmates, resulting in a large number of casualties.
The network condemned “the repeated and deliberate targeting by the militia of civilian infrastructure in Al-Obeid,” considering it a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law. It called on the United Nations and international organizations to exert immediate pressure on the militia commandership to halt these violations targeting defenseless civilians and densely populated areas.
