Amani Al-Tawil: UAE is a party to the Sudanese war… RSF militia cannot strike Al-Sad Al-Aali (High Dam)

Interview: Diaa-Eddin El-Tayib

Amani Al-Tawil, an expert at the Al-Ahram Center for Strategic Studies, said “The war in Sudan negatively affects Egypt.”

Al-Tawil denied, during an interview with the (Sudanese Echoes) platform, the existence of international support for the Rapid Support Fiorces (RSF) mlitia. “There is no one that can bear responsibility for the RSF militia’s violations.” She added.

Regarding the accusations of the militia commander, Hemeidti, against Egypt of supporting the Sudanese army through warplanes, Al-Tawil confirmed that Egypt does not intervene militarily in any country, and because the Sudanese army possesses warplanes.

With respect to the accusations of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) of supporting the militia, Al-Tawil pointed out that there are parties that provided evidence of this support, including UN experts in the Security Council. But she went back to state “The UAE is part of this crisis whether we like it or not.” But she blamed the Sudanese government for its official accusation and disclosure of the UAE’s support for the militia, “I think that disclosure is harmful at this stage and not useful because it disrupts the political settlement.” She continued.

Al-Tawil mocked the RSF militia’s threat to strike Al-Sad Al-Aali (High Dam), describing the threat as blatant hostility. She asserted that the militia does not have the military capabilities to enable it to strike the High Dam, stressing the necessity to take the threat seriously. She underscored that the Egyptian army is ready to deter any threat.
