Minister of Finance: Kuwait is the largest (Creditor ) to Sudan with (15) billion dollars

Minister of Finance Gebreil Ibrahim said that the largest creditor country to Sudan is Kuwait with 15 billion dollars, at the same time that the minister called on the walis (governors) of the states to be honest and tell the government where the money for employees’ salaries goes against the backdrop of many employees in the states not receiving their salaries for a long time, revealing that the Ministry of Finance pays monthly financial support amounting to about 30% of the revenues that go to the states to cover their expenses.

 

 

The minister said, in an interview with (Sudanese Echoes)- published in the internal pages- that the Ministry of Finance does not know the number of employees in the states or the costs of their salaries and does not interfere in their appointment, considering that the salaries of employees in the states, according to the Federal Government Act, are paid from the revenues of the states.

 

 

The minister confirmed that the Ministry of Finance is committed to paying 30% of the revenues to the states as support since the first days of the war until today.

 

 

The minister asserted that the failure to pay state employees is a problem for the government, “We do not know their numbers and whether they exist or not?” He added.

 

 

Meanwhile, the minister disclosed that the government is promised non-refundable grant money from the World Bank.
