Minister: 70% of Sudanese People are POOR

The Federal Minister of Social Development, Ahmed Adam Bakhit, acknowledged that poverty rates in the country have risen to 70%.

He said in the “Solidarity Packages for the Poverty Reduction Program” workshop in Al-Gadarif that poverty brings various societal disabilities and contributes to the moral death of individuals and groups, pointing out the importance of benefiting from the experiences of countries that have pioneered in combating poverty.

He stated that Sudan signed the agreement of the “International Alliance to Eradicate Poverty and Hunger” as part of the commitment to combat poverty, pointing out that synergistic interventions are one of the old formulas proposed that help narrow the gap between the rich and the poor and measure the positive impact of combating poverty in society.
