Achieving a valuable win over Ghana, Sudan puts one foot in the African Cup of Nations

Sudan scored two goals in three minutes in the second half to beat Ghana 2-0 at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Libya on Tuesday, moving closer to qualifying for the 2025 African Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Sudan raised its score to seven points from four matches, two points behind Angola, the leader of Group Six, which played three matches.

Ghana is now in an unenviable position, after its score froze at two points, leaving the four-time African champion facing the specter of not qualifying for the tournament.

Sudan team’s Player El-Tish succeeded in giving Sudan the lead in the 62nd minute after following up Terry’s shot that rebounded from the right post. Mohamed Abdel-Rahman succeeded in scoring the winning goal with a shot from a one-on-one position.

Sudan, who need one point to qualify for the African Cup of Nations, will be hosted by Niger in mid-November.
