91 Civilians Killed or Injured and Thousands Displaced in RSF Militia Attacks near Chad Border

The “Tina” Emergency Room and nearby displaced persons (IDPs) camps issued an urgent appeal to local and international organizations following a dire deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the locality and surrounding villages in North Darfur.

The statement released by the emergency room reported the deaths of 103 civilians, mostly women, children, and herders, and injuries to 88 others, as a result of continuous attacks by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on areas near the Chad border.

The statement identified eight areas facing a severe humanitarian crisis: Qadeer, Sasa, Andro, Jir Jirah, Hajo, Mastura, and Basso Reservoir, confirming that these areas had experienced village burnings and extensive livestock looting. This has forced approximately 18,000 people to flee toward the Chad border, where they now live in the open under extremely critical humanitarian conditions.

The statement noted that civilians, especially women and children, are living in terror due to attacks by “drones” and continuous shelling. It clarified that the drone attacks began on 22 December 2025 and continued until 16 January 2026, targeting public places and vital institutions, which has led to an almost complete disruption of local services.

According to the statement, Tina locality – already densely populated with IDPs from other areas – is experiencing its third wave of displacement for some families, who have fled death multiple times.

The statement accused international humanitarian actors of “deliberate silence” and neglect, which exacerbates civilian suffering and directly threatens lives, calling on the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to intervene immediately to monitor and prevent violations.
