737 cholera deaths in Sudan, significant reduction in the rate of disease infection
The Federal Emergency Operations Center held its meeting today in the emergency hall of the Public Health Laboratory in Kassala City, reviewing the reports of the departments in the ministry related to combating epidemics, in addition to the reports of the ministries of health in the states of Gezira and Khartoum.
The cholera epidemiological situation report revealed the recording of (39) new infections yesterday, Monday, October 21, without any deaths, noting that the infections were from (6) states: Kassala (7) infections, Al-Gadarif (14) infections, the Red Sea (8) infections, Al-Gezira (3) infections, the Nile River (4) infections, and the Northern State (3) infections, bringing the cumulative number of infections in the country from July 25 to October 21 to (26,472) infections, including (737) deaths.
The response report referred to the interventions against cholera in isolation centers, noting the decline in infections in most states, referring to the activation of irrigation centers supported by a number of organizations for the benefit of some states, while confirming the continuation of interventions at the federal level.
The Environmental Health and Food Control report noted the implementation of activities in some areas, including combating water phases inside and outside homes, and combating flying phases outside homes in a number of states, pointing to a number of challenges.
