13 foreign mercenaries responsible for drones and artillery arrested in Nyala
A severe ethnic crisis erupted between the commandership of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and leaderships of the Birgid tribe in South Darfur due to the refusal of the tribe’s youth to mobilize the militia.
A number of Birgid chieftains left Nyala for Khazan Jadeed, including the former Shearia commissioner, Siddig Abdel-Nabi.
Meanwhile, the militia launched a widespread arrest campaign against its elements around Nyala, detaining approximately 190 of them, including 13 foreign mercenary technicians specializing in drones and artillery.
Sources reported to “Sudanese Echoes” that the arrests resulted in the killing of a Salamat militia officer, which has led to tensions between the Salamat tribe and the commander of the detention centers, Khalid Sabeel.
